Day 1

'Mingalabar' and welcome to Myanmar

Upon arrival at Yangon International Airport, you are greeted with a warm “Mingalabar” before beginning your exploration of Myanmar’s largest city. Experience the the vibrant and bustling daily life of Yangon with a visit to traditional markets, then be awe inspired by the legendary Shwedagon Pagoda. Watch the light play over its golden surface and marvel at the most important religious sanctuary of the Burmese.

Day 2

Grand temples and a private sunset cruise

Today the temple city of Bagan awaits. A visit to the impressive golden Shwezigon Pagoda is followed a relaxing cup of tea in a traditional Myanmar teahouse. Then, at one of Bagan’s grandest temples, Ananda, explore caves and tunnel-like corridors with flashlights. In the late afternoon, relax aboard your private wooden boat for a sunset cruise on the Irrawaddy River.

Day 3

Explore ancient temples & idyllic villages by bicycle

Bagan is not only scattered with thousands of ancient temples but also idyllic villages. Today you explore the region by bicycle, meandering along tree-lined streets and past monasteries to experience a culture undisturbed by time and traditions passed down through generations. The fascinating royal city of Mandalay

Transferring to Mandalay today, your fascinating journey through this royal city begins with a visit to the Mahamumi Pagoda, containing one of the holiest golden Buddha statues. Next is the ‘Golden Monastery’, the only remaining building of the 19th century royal court, to admire the unparalleled wood carvings of this imposing structure. Finally you will arrive at Mandalay Hill for an unforgettable sunset vista.

Day 5

Discover ivory painted pagodas and the legendary U Bein Bridge

Crossing over the Irrawaddy River, you arrive today at Saging, known as the spiritual centre of Myanmar with its 600 ivory painted pagodas and monasteries. In Amarapura, Myanmar’s penultimate royal capital, you stop at Mahagandayon monastery, home to more than one thousand young monks. As the shadows begins to lengthen, soak up a very special atmosphere at the the legendary U Bein Bridge.

Day 6

Cycle to a mountain vineyard and forest monastery

Flying to Heho today, your transfer by boat to your luxurious lakeside hotel, your home for the next three nights. In the afternoon, enjoy a cycle tour to Red Mountain Resort vineyard, enjoying picturesque scenery along the way. Sample local wines before continuing to the forest monastery at Maing Thank Village. soak up the serenity before heading back to your resort.

Day 7

The wonders of Inle Lake await

Today your discovery of the remarkable Inle Lake begins. Relish unforgettable visits to the floating markets of Inle, and the weaving village of Inpawkhone, where fabric was first woven from lotus flowers. Cruising down a small canal, you arrive at at Indein Village, from where you can climb a mossy path to the hilltop Indein Pagoda, one of the most amazing sights on the banks of the lake.

Discover lakeside villages on foot and by bicycle

Begin your morning at Khaung Daing village. Yet undiscovered by most tourists, stroll narrow streets, witness villagers go about their morning, and sample the village specialty - tofu. A gentle hike to the pagoda is followed by a cycle to Nyaung Shwe where you will observe the local farmers and fishermen of the lake.

Day 9

Experience the many faces of Yangon

Changing pace today, you return to Yangon. In the company of your expert private guide, discover the many faces of the city, from charming colonial architecture, to the cultural diversity of ‘Little India’ and ‘Chinatown’, to the action of the Yangon River. A visit to the two thousand year old Sule Pagoda offers the opportunity to visit one of the many soothsayers among the trees.

Departure
