Day 1

Bustling and atmospheric, welcome to Hanoi

Welcome to the vibrant and bustling Hanoi. Explore tree-lined streets - learn the very unique Vietnamese art of crossing the street - discover artisan boutiques and stunning Parisian-style architecture as you get to know this enchanting city of old and new. Then begin your discovery of Vietnamese cuisine alfresco at one of its many French colonial courtyard restaurants.

Day 2

Uncover vibrant Hanoi with a resident expert

Today you embark on a private discovery of Hanoi’s most significant sights such as the Ho Chi Minh complex and the Presidential Palace. After lunch, you’ll explore the vibrant and bustling Old Quarter before dining at one of our favourite restaurants. Transferring to Hanoi Train Station, you board the overnight train to Lao Cai, the gateway to Vietnam’s picturesque highlands.

Day 3

After arriving at Lao Cai Train Station, you transfer to Victoria Resort and Spa for breakfast and an early check-in. Relax and take in the breathtaking views of the mountainous Sapa Valley. After lunch at the lodge, enjoy the vista on your trek to local Dzao villages, home to women famous for their elaborate, colourfully embroidered dress.

Day 4

Discover colourful Sapa hill tribes on a gentle trek

Today you begin trekking at a small village set deep in the picturesque Sapa Valley. Soak up the atmosphere of colourful village life, as you pass traditional stilt houses overlooking emerald green rice terrace fields. After lunch, return to your alpine lodge, relax with a glass of wine then enjoy a delicious dinner at the lodge’s Ta Van Restaurant.

Day 5

A gentle scenic cycle through villages

This morning you cycle down the highest mountain pass in Indochina, Tram Ton Pass at 1,940 metres. On your free-wheeling glide, lose yourself to the sweeping views of the lush valley as you pass mountain waterfalls and traditional villages. In the evening, enjoy dinner before boarding the night train in Lao Cai for your return to Hanoi.

Day 6

Halong Bay from your private luxury junk

Today you head to Halong City through the Red River Delta where you board our private luxury junk. Enjoy the tranquil spectacle as you pass spectacular limestone islands on the way to remote Bai Tu Long Bay. Explore the emerald waters by kayak, enjoy dinner on the water and retire to the luxury comforts of your cabins.

Day 7

Explore hidden lagoons & deserted beaches

Today your boat moves deeper into Halong Bay heading for beautiful Cat Ba Island. A change of pace awaits as you hop on bikes and make your way through lush forests and stone tunnels to reach Viet Hai Village. Explore traditional houses, walk in the surrounding jungle and stop by a local primary school. The emerald green lagoon of secluded Ho Ba Ham offers the opportunity to jump into the waters or relax on the sandy beach.

Day 8

From emerald green waters to the Perfume River

After a leisurely breakfast, you head for white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters to swim and relax with the option for a hill climb for one last look at the vista of Halong Bay. After enjoying lunch on board, take in the breathtaking scenery on your cruise back to Halong City. Back in Hanoi, board your flight to Hue. Located on the picturesque Perfume River, Hue offers guests an insight into the glories of Imperial Vietnam.

Day 9

UNESCO World Heritage Hue, with your private expert guide

Guided by a resident expert, your introduction to UNESCO World Heritage Hue begins at the Citadel, once home to the Nguyen Dynasty emperors. Explore the iconic Thien Mu Pagoda, stop by ornate royal tombs that line the riverbanks, including Tu Duc - set among lotus ponds and frangipani trees - and take in the hustle and bustle of the markets and back streets. Later you travel over the Hai Van Pass to Hoi An, soaking up some of Vietnam’s most breathtaking landscapes en route.

Day 10

Thu Bon River by boat and delightful Hoi An

Strolling through the village to meet local farmers and school children, you’ll find that life hasn’t changed much. Back in Hoi An, wander along enchanting old streets lined with Japanese merchant houses, visit the Hoi An Museum, Chinese Assembly Hall and the Japanese Covered Bridge - a truly delightful and alluring town.

Day 11

Boarding a private luxury speedboat, cruise down the Saigon River to discover riverside villages, lush market gardens and traditional fishermen plying their trade, before reaching Chu Chi where your resident expert guide brings alive the tunnels and their place in Vietnam’s history.
