Borneo's Gunung Mulu World Heritage Area from a new luxury lodge
Borneo’s Gunung Mulu World Heritage Area is located in the Malaysian state of Sarawak and was declared a World Heritage Site in 2005 by UNESCO. Little known, the park is one of the most majestic and thrilling nature destinations anywhere in Southeast Asia. In fact, few national parks anywhere in the world pack so many natural wonders into such a small area.
With the accommodation options once limited to basic cabins, this is all set to change with the rejuvenation by the Marriott hotel group of the beautifully situated Royal Mulu Resort. With an ethnic design resembling longhouses, the resort rests on 15-foot wooden stilts rising over lush vegetation and linked by a series of walkways overlooking the scenic Melinau River.
We are thrilled to offer in 2015 an incredible experience of this wilderness wonderland in the company of one of the area’s best expert naturalist guides. On foot and by traditional long boat, discover caves of mind-boggling proportions, and a unique kaleidoscope of pristine old-growth tropical rainforests, unique wildlife and a forest of razor-sharp limestone spires. One of the true wonders of the world.
